ArcheryOne of the most favourite activities at camp is Archery. Each participant wears a bracer (also known as an arm guard) to protect the inside of the bow arm from being hit by the string and prevent clothing from catching the bow string. Different bows and arrows are used to accommodate campers of any age and abilities. Our target range offers a chance to learn a skill that kids might not otherwise be exposed to. By altering distances and targets the challenge of our Archery range can be varied to meet any level of difficulty. Camp uses traditional ring targets, but also like to look for other challenges! Can you hit the hanging target ball or an apple?

SwimmingCamp Selah is located on a beautiful Pigeon Lake and we have a beautiful sandy beach for our campers to enjoy. The children's swimming area is clearly marked and protected. Children enjoy the daily swimming activities under a careful watch of our lifeguards and counselors. Younger campers enjoy building sand castles and water channels on the beach. Those who do not like swimming will enjoy just laying on the beach and enjoying the beautiful sun. Counselors supervise and ensure for kids to apply sun screen if campers will be exposed to a sun at the beach. All children are tested for their swimming abilities and those who are not able to pass a basic skill test are identified.

BoatingOne of the favourite activities for our campers is canoeing. This activity is scheduled every day for all age groups. Children will learn how to canoe and will participate in various canoe competitions. Across from our camp territory there is a large uninhabited island called "The Big Island". Whenever we have survival exercises campers would use our camp canoes to transport themselves to the Island. One staff person is always present in each canoe. Campers all wear life jackets and follow other safety requirements when canoeing at camp Selah.

Survival LessonsAnother favourite activity for campers is learn basic skills how to survive in the wilderness. Often, kids do not get a chance to learn how to properly build and start a fire when they live in a large city. They also don’t have a chance to learn how to build shelter that will protect them from hot sun and rain in the forest. Our camp territory is surrounded by woods and campers have a chance to experience and learn basic skills needed to build a camp site and survive without electricity and modern necessities.

Arts and CraftsEach year we prepare different crafts for campers to participate in. Children will enjoy these activities and will be able to take crafts home. In the past these have included making leather bands with custom in-printing, dying t-shirts, custom soap making, jewelry making, building wood airplanes and cars as well as making custom camp memory books and bookmarks. We have a Creative Arts Directors who spent countless hours preparing unique craft activities for each season and getting all the necessary supplies. These activities are especially enjoyed by our younger campers and they participate in them more frequently.

Bible LessonsEach day campers would get together with their small group of up to 6 campers and will read a daily lesson from the Bible with their counsellor. We generally focus on the basic teachings of Jesus as found in the New Testament. Topics covered generally include, the Creation Story, the Exodus Story, The Birth of Jesus, The Miracles of Jesus, the Death and the Resurrection of Jesus. Applications to daily life and family are also discussed. Older campers would also get together once a week around a camp-fire to talk about the Biblical perspective on relationships. Our camp is designed for children of all faiths and walks of life and we make sure that all campers feel comfortable and well cared for regardless of their beliefs.

Camp Wide GamesEvery day at Camp Selah means a different all camp game. The camp is typically divided into two or four teams and campers compete against each other to score for the team and ultimately win an individual or a team prize. Camp Selah’s territory is very large, what allows us to play some interesting and unique games. During some theme games, Sports Director and staff hides different objects for kids to find and to bring to the base. During “Fort Boyard” aka “Fort Selah” game, teams go through different stages at different locations around camp completing tasks and collecting keys. Other all camp games include Capture the Flag, Water Splashing Competitions, Leader on the Run, Bees and Bears and many more.
