Archery

One of the most favourite activities at camp is Archery.  Each participant wears a bracer (also known as an arm guard) to protect the inside of the bow arm from being hit by the string and prevent clothing from catching the bow string. Different bows and arrows are used to accommodate campers of any age and abilities. Our target range offers a chance to learn a skill that kids might not otherwise be exposed to. By altering distances and targets the challenge of our Archery range can be varied to meet any level of difficulty. Camp uses traditional ring targets, but also like to look for other challenges!  Can you hit the hanging target ball or an apple?
Why Archery?
Besides being a traditional camp activity that all kids enjoy, archery has an easy learning curve.  With each shot camper can see improvements and how one is getting better as they follow staff’s instructions. This brings saying “practice makes it perfect” to life. Counsellors also use archery to talk about values of preparation and patience as they prepare to make a shot.
